Mike Tyson has announced that not only is there a biopic slated to drop about the life and times of the former boxing champ, but Jamie Foxx is slated to play the legendary Iron Mike.
“It’s on, as of right now,” Tyson told The Jasmine Brand. “Jamie Foxx has signed on for it. Filming hasn’t started yet but it’s going to happen. A lot of people aren’t going to like the things I’ve done in my life.”
Foxx also hinted at the fact that he could be playing the Boxer in an interview earlier this year with screen rant. However, I guess people took it a little more seriously hearing it from the (Iron) horse’s mouth.
Foxx is no stranger to big screen biopics, having won an Oscar for his magnificent potrayal of Ray Charles in ‘Ray’ back in 2005.
Oh, and did we mention Martin Scorcese is doing this thing! If not, then, yes Tyson also revealed that Martin Scorsese will be a part of this epic project.
“Yeah, [Scorsese’s] attached, and it’s… Mike Tyson’s life is one of the most amazing American stories, Tyson also told The Jasmine Brand”.
The film was originally announced back in 2014, but nothing seemed to be coming of it. Foxx revamped the hype surrounding it early this year and now it seems to be all but confirmed now that Tyson has spilled the beans.
